The benefit of hot coffee in the morning
Mornings suck. Going to work in the morning sucks. Going to work in the morning with a toddler making your morning rush difficult sucks even more. We all just need a good cup of hot coffee to wake up. But sometimes I feel like a cup of hot coffee wakes you up better if you just throw it into your face.
One year ago this month, I lost my job due to company downsizing. I was a motion designer at a TV station. Although it was the worst thing that happened last year, it was also the best thing that happened – and I’m grateful.
I’m grateful for the chance to pursue my passion: publishing a book, drawing online comics, setting up an online shop (20% OFF ENTIRE STORE, FREE SHIPPING, lol).
I’m grateful for all my fans (yes, you) who have been supporting me. Following my comics, messaging me that my cartoons made your day. Letting me know how you no longer feel alone as a mom, as a dad. You all are my motivations to keep drawing, to keep spreading the love and humour in parenting during good times and bad.
My shop launched not too long ago, and I have received all your orders: I am truly thankful for that. It makes me teary when I know so many of you out there appreciate my hard work.
The mission of Summer and Muu is to be your stress reliever – turning your parenting struggles into humour, reassuring that you are not alone. I hope I have achieved that mission and I will continue to strive and deliver more comics to all of you!
Thank you fellow moms and dads!
About Summer and Muu Parenting Comics
Summer and Muu is a series of parenting comics for new moms and dads with young children. These cartoons are stress relievers as every parent can relate to these parenting comics. Brenda Li, the cartoonist behind the series, wants to ensure that new parents know that they are not alone in this parenting struggle and journey. Raising little human beings from scratch is a daunting feeling. There is no step by step youtube tutorials, no easy Ikea instructional manuals and definitely no mobile app to automate and do everything for you. Moms and dads need all the support they can get, whether it is physical, emotional, social, or intellectual support. By illustrating the daily struggle of a new mom and turning daily struggles into everyday humour, new parents faced with similar headaches are immediately comforted. Knowing that you’re not alone is a huge reassurance that everything is still okay and “normal”.
